The Tuesday flood that ravaged some parts of Osogbo, State of Osun, killed over 200 chickens at a poultry farm around Olorunkemi Area of Oke-Baale.

According to the owner of the poultry farm, Mr Benjamin Adetoro, the flood had killed the chickens at the lower part of the cage before he realised that the downpour had damaged his farm.

Speaking with OSUN DEFENDER on Wednesday, Adetoro said he was not expecting the flood to extend to his farm because the government had about four months ago dredged the Sasa River.

He said: “We did not expect it, because the government had helped to expand the river. We were just inside when my wife noticed and called my attention that flood was about to invade the poultry around 8pm yesterday.

“Before we got to the place, flood had already killed the chickens at the lower cage. They were more than 200. We were hurried carrying others to a safer place.”
