The First Western Governor Dies A Day Before His Birthday

Adeyinka Adebayo was born in 1928, the son of a Public Works employee from Iyin Ekiti, near Ado Ekiti, (present day Ekiti State), Nigeria.

He was educated at All Saints School, Iyin-Ekiti, and later attended Eko Boys High School and Christ’s School Ado Ekiti.

He was the the former military governor of the the defunct western region and the leader of the Yoruba council of elders (YCE) Major general Robert Adeyinka Adebayo is dead.

As governor of the Western region he promoted agricultural extension services in particular the establishment of the Institute of Agricultural Research and Training, Moor Plantation, Ibadan.

A day before he could mark his 89th birthday with family and friends the tragedy of loosing the great icon to the cold hands of death leaving his wife and children.

“I will miss spending time with my father says the daughter”
