The Royal Traditional Council of Ile-Ife in the State of Osun, has announced the suspension of Chief Ramon Adedoyin, as the Maye of Ile-Ife over a trending Poetry ” Ewi” On Ooni, Oba Adeyeyi Enitan Ogunwusi released to defame the stool and character of the front line monarch.

The royal council in a statement jointly signed by Balufe of Ife, HRM Oba Idowu Adediwura and Lowa Adimula, Ife Oba Adekola Adeyeye stated that Chief Adedoyin should not parade himself anymore as the Maye of Ife henceforth.

The royal council affirmed that Chief Adedoyin and Oba Adeoye Adefarakan, the Oloyere of Oyere were the brain behind the production of the tape.

According to the release, “After the exhaustive deliberations and investigation with the invitation of some close associates and cohorts of Chief Ramon Adedoyin, the Maye of Ife, which includes, Oba Adeoye Adefarakan, Oloyede of Oyere, it was discovered that Chief Ramon was the financier of the production of the tape.

“That Chief Ramon Adedoyin, the Maye of Ife is the financier and brain behind the release of the “Ewi” in circulation”

“The paramountcy of the stool of the Ooni of Ife has been desecrated with this singular action among several others done in the recent past at the Ooni of Ife and house of Oduduwa is the chief custodian and honorary titles”

“That beyond reasonable doubt, Chief Ramon Adedoyin and his cohorts like Oba Adeoye Adefarakan have committed offences of defaming the stool and character of Ooni of Ife, assault and the libelous release of the “Ewi” remains indelible. and all these acts are conduct likely to cause breach of peace”

“That all the parties involved in the meeting passed the vote of no confidence in chief Ramon Adedoyin and Oba Adeoye Adefarakan”

“That the house of Oduduwa henceforth suspend the Chieftaincy title of Maye of Ife that was bestowed on Chief Ramon Adedoyin until further notice”

“Chief Ramon Adedoyin should not be parade himself as Maye of Ife until he absolve himself of his disloyalty and betrayal to the stool of Ooni and House of Oduduwa”

“We therefore implore all the sons and daughters of Ife to maintain peace and order in the nooks and crannies of Ile-Ife and its environment”

However, in a phone conversation with our correspondent, Chief Adedoyin said the traditional council has no power to remove him as Maye. He said Maye is not a traditional title but an honorary title bestowed on him by late Ooni Sijuwade.

He added that he has a very cordial relationship with Ooni Ogunwusi and he has no any personal issue with the Royal father since he lost the context to him.

It would be recalled that a poem (Ewi) tape, defaming the Ooni, had been circulating for a while. The tape, which is captioned “Oba Awakusa” was said to have been sent from the UK.
