Super Eagles’ Striker, Kelechi Iheanacho returned to training yesterday ahead of Leicester City’s English Premier League opening game against Arsenal on Friday.

The 20-year-old striker lasted only 17 minutes of his debut following his £25 million moves from Manchester City after taking a knock on his ankle against Borussia Monchengladbach on Friday.

Iheanacho limped off the pitch but Shakespeare said the medical staff were not too concerned and Iheanacho only suffered bruising to his ankle. He is now expected to be fit to face Arsenal in the season’s opening fixture at the Emirates Stadium.

Shakespeare believes Iheanacho’s presence in the game against Arsenal will give Leicester a chance of getting something from London. But he wants to wait till the last day of training to ascertain if the Nigerian will be at his best for the game.

Danny Drinkwater is expected to miss out on Friday after picking up a thigh strain in training last week, while Robert Huth is definitely out with an ankle injury.

However, Islam Slimani could be available after suffering a nasty cut behind his knee against Wolverhampton Wanderers. The injury kept him out of the game against Borussia, but he is expected to train this week.
