The need to emancipate the role of young women in Nation Building especially in Politics is the focus of the leading aspirant for the post of APC Deputy National Youth Leader in the forth-coming National Convention of the party, Olujide Folashade if elected.

In a chat with newsmen, she said the move would go a long way in further entrenching the 35% affirmative action for Young Nigerian Women in Politics.

This move Folashade opines will promote the proliferation of Youths in the ruling All Progressives Congress to seek elective positions in line with the recently signed Not Too Young To Run Bill.

The Osun born female politician also stated her readiness to fully back the National Youth Leader and the NWC in General in advocating for a gender balanced political space in the country.

The female aspirant said she has the capacity to promote APC youths for elective positions in Nigerian democracy at large.

According to her ’’Today’s generation of young people is the largest in the world has ever known. Half of the global population is under 30, and yet 73% of countries restrict young people from running for political office, even though they can vote.

‘’In Nigeria today, campaigns are underway to promote the rights of young people running for public office by seeking to lower the legal age of candidacy, and bring it into line with the age at which you can vote.

“I believe that young people deserve the same rights to run for political office and which age discrimination is a hindrance to full participation in Nigeria democracy.”

A fortnight ago, President Muhammadu Buhari signed into law the Not Too Young To Run Bill and whose purpose is coming to fruition beginning from the APC itself.

She commended the NotTooYoungtoRun campaigners for embarking on a mission to address age discrimination in the political aspiration of young people which serves as inspiration for the global campaign.
