Eight Persons Remanded In Prison Over Alleged Armed Robbery

An Osogbo Magistrate Court on Monday remanded eight persons in Ilesa prison custody over alleged armed robbery.

The accused include Ogunosun Timileyin, 18, Adeleke Shina, 21, Olawopo Daramola, 20, and Abidoye Semiu, 20,

Others are Nkemko Steven, 23, Olayiwola Gbolahan 29, Azeez Lawal 30, and Owonifari Samson 24.

The Magistrate, Mrs. Fatimoh Sodamade, had ordered the accused to be remanded in Ilesha prison custody over alleged armed robbery.

The Prosecutor, Inspector. Mustapha Tajudeen, had told the court that the accused committed the offence on November 10, 2017 at about 9:30 am, at Oke-Ayepe, Osogbo.

Tajudeen said the accused who are members of Eiye Secret Cult conspired together to disrupt public peace.

He said the accused persons robbed unsuspected victims of their Motorcycles and mobile phones with guns and other dangerous weapons.

The prosecutor said the offences contravened sections 6(b),(1)(2)(a)(b) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special provision) Act cap R11Vol.  14, Laws of Federation of Nigeria  and sections  516,64(a)(b)  and 249(d) of the criminal code cap 34 vol.11 laws of Osun, 2003.

The pleas of the defendants were not taken by the court due to the magnitude of their offence.

The case was adjourned to March 15, 2018 for further mention
