ABOUT two months ago, when the news of the invitation of Osun State senior political functionaries by the EFCC, filtered out, I was not moved at all, as I was of the view that unless Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola is in short of “Ghana Must Go” that the EFCC and even ICPC put together can make any impact in Osun State.

As long as about N4billion Federal Allocations, due to both the Osun State government and all the local governments get to Oyinlola’s hand monthly, I was pessimistic that there would not be any meaningful impact from both the EFCC and ICPC. This pessimistic stand was not as a result of my being ignorant of what the anti-graft outfits stand for, but was borne out of the fact that the EFCC and ICPC are the products of Mr. ‘Do-or-Die’, demonic genius, Olusegun Obasanjo, who before leaving the office for Otta Farm, assured the imposed PDP governors in the South West, that their prospective states were no go areas for the EFCC and ICPC.

If not so, Nuhu Ribadu, who was in Ibadan to condemn everything Alao-Akala stood for, only to put on his (Ribadu) wig and gown to defend the same Alao-Akala during screening exercise, for the April 2007 general elections. Olusegun Obasanjo, announced publicly that, he (Obasanjo) would set the EFCC and ICPC against Mimiko.

Here is Osun State, the adopted child of the devil reincarnate, Olusegun Obasanjo, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola has said repeatedly on air and in print media said that, Osun State remains a No-Go-Area for both the ICPC and EFCC. He was found boasting with confidence on each occasion that, Osun State citizens including myself, lost every hope of Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola being brought to justice, despite the recklessness with which he (Oyinlola) squanders funds meant for Osun State. Honestly, Oyinlola has bought scorpions with our money to chastice us, without recourse to reason and fear of God.

I had no change of mind about the EFCC and ICPC, even after the change of baton from Olusegun Obasanjo to Alhaji Umaru Yar’ Adua. I maintained my rigid stand as Alhaji Yar’Adua was imposed on the nation by Do-or-Die, demon-possessed Obasanjo and was supposed to do the biddings of Obasanjo. The confidence reposed in the demonic ability of Obasanjo by Oyinlola, was the major reason why he (Oyinlola) was boasting of pocketing the EFCC and the ICPC. Initially, the boasting paid off, as there was no action from the EFCC and ICPC despite series of petitions flooding their offices almost on daily basis. Honestly, the inaction of the EFCC and ICPC initially, on these barrage of petitions from Osun State to their offices, made me thought of the probability of the efficacy of “Ghana Must Go” in caging these anti-graft outfits.

Sincerely, I took all the action plans of the new EFCC boss, Mrs Farida Waziri, as regards fighting corruption to a standstill, with a pinch of salt as, we have heard many of such in the past, after assuming office newly.

Now that the EFCC has taken the step of inviting government officials, such as the Secretary to the State Government, (SSG,) the Accountant General, commissioners and recently the 26 House of Assembly Members, to Abuja for questioning on their past fraudulent activities, I have my fingers crossed, to see if the now hot aluminium fry pan will not be chilly cold soonest as usual.

Having expressed my misgivings, as regards the seriousness of the EFCC trying to rid Osun State of corruption, I will give some tips, all the same, to the EFCC, which would definitely be of help, as they move to do a clean up of this corrupt, fraudulent government of Oyinlola.

It is a pity that the EFCC focuses on workers in both public and private offices and also on government functionaries, that is governors, commissioners, local government chairmen etc but has not deemed it fit to dig deep into the lives of emergency billionaires in our mist. It will be a right step in the right direction. If these people go unpunished, then the battle against corruption is almost lost, as these emergency billionaires are the formidable forces behind these government functionaries.

In Osun State, the EFCC should unravel the mystery behind their sudden wealth. There are people in our mist today that are stupendously rich to the extent of buying almost all petrol filling stations in the state, some have up to ten fantastic buildings, spread all over the state, all built within a period of four to five years. These people were nobody before the year 2003 when they pitched their tent with the fraudulent government of Oyinlola.

These emergency billionaires include Imams, Pastors, Obas and law enforcement agencies. The society is rotten and I only hope the EFCC and ICPC will now come above board by, doing a neat job in Osun State devoid of the snares of ‘Ghana Must Go’ always set by Oyinlola. This “Ghana Must Go” snare has caught both the wise and the foolish, it has trapped judges, police commissioners, NURTW leaders etc. Not until when these emergency billionaires are brought to justice, there will be no meaningful impact of the EFCC and ICPC in Osun State.

To do a thorough cleansing job in Osun State, the EFCC must start from the councilors as their own constituency project fund was paid directly into their private accounts. There is need to investigate the unbudgeted stipends being paid to the spouses of councillors, local government chairmen and the Obas.

The huge amount spent on vehicles for Obas must also come under the searchlight of the EFCC, as the project was not budgeted for. We need to know how much was budgeted for globetrotting of the governor and that brings us to budget implementation. The budget implementation of Oyinlola’s wasteful government must interest the EFCC as this is the crux of the matter, as all the financial scandals are traceable to it. If the “Ghana Must Go” virus of Oyinlola has not infested the EFCC, then the listed projects below must interest them.

Ejigbo Water Project – Oyinlola claimed in his speech, while commissioning the fraud called Ejigbo water project, that he (Oyinlola) spent N55m on this Water Project and that he (Oyinlola) broke the jinx behind Ejigbo Water Project, which had been neglected by several administrations in the past. The fact of the matter is that, there is nothing like Ejigbo Water Project. The project was a window dressing project, as findings confirmed that water was indeed pumped to Ejigbo from Erinle Dam in Ede a day to the commissioning and water stopped flowing few hours after commissioning that same day.

According to an indepth research conducted by a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) called Peoples Welfare League (PWL), based in Osogbo Osun State, in their World Press Conference, sometimes in 2006, water is yet to flow in Ejigbo. The PWL press conference which was widely published by about 10 national dailies is yet to be debunked by Oyinlola’s government. Up till today, there is no single water pipe, either standing or laid in Ilesa town. The Iresi Water Scheme is more or less a curse to Boluwaduro Local Government. The Dagbolu Water Scheme, which is a bore-hole, is dry even during raining season.

The Kuta Mini Scheme, which is also a bore hole is nothing but a curse to Ayedire Local Government etc. From the listed examples, the EFCC must find out the justification of N100m budgeted for water projects in 2005; N164.8m budgeted in 2006; N190m in 2007 and N250m budgeted in 2008, for water treatment chemicals alone. What a scandal!

The Akoda-Osogbo Road Project – This is a Federal Project which has gulped N1.2 billion till date without progress. Prince Oyinlola said that Federal Government had paid Osun State N400m and that his “jegudu-ragudu” PDP government had spent N800m on the road project, which he started since 2004 and promised to complete in 2005. The EFCC, must assess the progress so far vis-à-vis the amount Prince Oyinlola, himself confirmed to have been spent.

The rehabilitation of Osogbo –Iwo Road Project, N200m was budgeted for this 2006; N45m budgeted in 2007 and N100m budgeted in 2008. If about N0.5 billion was budgeted for rehabilitation of the road, how much would the construction Cost?

With this huge amount spent already, the road is the worst in Osun State as confirmed by Oyinlola himself in his last Open Forum on 6th September 2008.

The bridge between Agbeye and Oore in Odo-Otin Local Government area of Osun State, for which N250m was budgeted is still there untouched till date. The quality of the Odo-Otin road project vis-à-vis the huge amount spent should be ascertained.

The tractors purchased; the tricycles purchased; the buses, ambulances, graders etc forced on local government areas. a lot of petitions had been written on these to the efcc and icpc with nothing done on them so far.

Lastly, I will call the attention of the EFCC to a statement credited to Barrister Abiodun on page 5 of OSUN DEFENDER, of Friday 22nd August 2008, ‘that for such misinformation (emphasis mine) sponsored on the radio, I have written a letter to the management of OSBC to retract the said information. The mischievous information was actually sponsored on the Osun radio (OSBC), it was paid for and I learnt that the wrong information was sponsored by Gani Ola-Oluwa, the chairman of Olorunda Local Government.” So many things are wrong here.

Gani Olaluwa, the chairman of Olorunda Local Government, using public funds, illegally, to misinform the whole nation, using public radio station, OSBC is the height of criminality, that deserves the attention of the EFCC and ICPC. For a public radio station, OSBC, managed by erudite professionals, to have allowed itself, to be so fraudulently used, is another criminality which deserves the attention of National Broadcasting Commission (NBC).

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) must also see the actions of Gani Ola-Oluwa, colluding with the management of Osun State Broadcasting Corporation (OSBC) and the PDP government of Oyinlola, as a dirty slap on the NBA and a ploy to bring the integrity of the NBA in general into disrepute. If the actions of these evil collaborators, Gani Ola-Oluwa, OSBC and PDP government of Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, is allowed to be swept under the carpet, after its world wide exposition, then, all the reputation associated with the NBA are already in the mud. The irresponsible and fraudulent intensions of these evil collaboration of the trio – Gani Ola-Oluwa, OSBC and Oyinlola must not be allowed to rubbish the NBA.

I wish the EFCC a fruitful operation in Osun State, as that only will rekindle the hope of the people in the EFCC, as an outfit actually out to stamp out corruption in the federation.
God bless Nigeria!
