Drama As Accused Burst Into Tears After Hearing Charges In Court

There was drama before an Osogbo Magistrate Court on Wednesday as a 38 years-old woman, burst into tears after being confronted with the charge of assault of a teenager.

According to the charge sheet, the accused hit one Sotunde Kayode with a bucket on head and hand which caused him several injuries and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 355 of the criminal code of Osun state law 2003.

The accused person, according to the charge sheet committed the offence at 61, Alekuwodo area, Osogbo, on October 3, 2017 at about 12:00noon.

Upon listening to the charge sheet read to her, the accused person burst into tears wondering what could have warranted such charges against her.

She subsequently pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against her.

The defence counsel, B.A Oyewale pleaded with the court to admit her client to bail on the most liberal terms, saying the offence was bailable in nature.

However, the Police Prosecutor, Sergeant Sunday Ajayi did not oppose the application.

The Presiding Magistrate, Olowolagba then admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N50,000 and a surety residing within the jurisdiction of the court.

She then adjourned the matter till November 22, 2017 for definite hearing.
