Documentary evidence possessed by the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) against the embattled Chairman of the first discredited Osun State Election Petitions Tribunal, Justice Thomas Naron and the lead counsel to the former governor of the state, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Mr Kunle kalejaye (SAN) will indict the two learned fellows before the NJC panel probing their alleged romance during the trial.
This was disclosed by a member of the Mr Rauf Aregbesola and the ACN legal team during the three years trial in the state, Mr Ajibola Bashiru, while speaking with OSUN DEFENDER in the state capital.
According to the legal practitioner, the party has overwhelming evidence revealing the secret unholy communication between Naron and Kalejaye during the trial, leading to the shabby way the tribunal handled the petition.
According to him, the romance between the lawyer and the tribunal chairman was responsible for the almost two year’s setback the petition suffered, before it was eventually judiciously dealt with by the Court of Appeal.
With the tremendous documentary evidence the party had, the duo of Naron and Kalejaye, according to the lawyer, might be in the last lap of the race to rescue their professional careers.
Speaking on the late constitution of the panel, he berated the Nigeria Judicial Council (NJC) and the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), saying Nigerians should ask same question and seek the right answers from the head of the nation’s judiciary.
“We all know that the allegations against the Court of Appeal President, Justice Isa Salami lacked any iota of truth, as it was orchestrated by the Peoples Democratic Party, through Iyiola Omisore, who believed that his birthright of becoming a governor was thwarted by the appellate court’s verdict.
“None of their allegations have any substance and that has been proved by the NJC panel, which vindicated Salami of any illegal act with leaders of the ACN in both Osun and Ekiti States”, added Bashiru.
While speaking on the various tribunals across the country, he disclosed that opposition parties would win more seats at the tribunal, adding that the last general elections in other parts of the country is far from being fair.
The governorship election in Kwara State, according to him, was nothing but an electoral heist, saying the governor is a mere tenant in the Government House, as the evidence before the tribunal would eventually see him out of office.
He maintained that the ACN is likely to reclaim the two other senatorial seats in Benue, saying the Senate President; David Mark did not win the senatorial seat, adding that the court would redress the manipulation perpetrated during the polls in the state.
Making reference to the governorship election in Akwa-Ibom State, the legal practitioner disclosed that the manipulation done was too obvious and there is no way the governor could get away with the electoral heist.
Other states where the opposition parties may win more seats or the governorship at the court include Kebbi and Katsina States respectively.
