Court Remands Two Men Over Alleged Impersonation Of IGP

An Osogbo magistrate court has remanded two persons in Ilesa prison custody over alleged impersonation, forgery and stealing.  

The suspects Adewale Adeleke, 34, and Radii kehinde, 34, are facing a four-count charge bothering on forgery, conspiracy,  felony and stealing.

The prosecutor, inspector Elisha Olusegun told the court that the duo committed the offence between March 21 and April  13,  2018 at Osogbo.

He also informed the court that the suspects  conspired among themselves to forge a letter of confirmation with regards to international  transfer purported to be from inspector general of police, letter from Ministry of India,  letter from bank of America, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines Receipt of Oshore  Maria Amina, which they presented as genuine.

Olusegun added that the accused persons also falsely presented themselves as the Inspector General of Police to the Central Bank of Nigeria, a representation known to be false.

The prosecutor stressed further that the accused persons also have in their possession Nigeria police logo and emblems,  wills of Mr Sam Smith from Franklin Harvell  Chambers, NBA seal of Utah onyekachi Joseph  SCN076608 and ownership of inheritance, suspected to have been stolen, unlawfully obtained and which they could not give satisfactory account.

Elisha Olusegun submitted that the accused persons committed the offence contrary to and punishable under section 430(1) of the criminal code cap 34 vol. II law of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.

Adeleke and Kehinde who have no legal representative pleaded not guilty to the count charge preferred against them.

The magistrate, Mrs M. A Awodele ordered that the two suspects be remanded in Ilesha prison custody. The case was adjourned to May 15 for hearing.
