Court Remands Teenager For Stabbing Friend To Death

A Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo, State of Osun, has ordered the remand of an 18-year-old teenager, Emmanuel Paul for allegedly stabbing his friend, Ibrahim Yinusa to death.

The Prosecutor, Oladoye Joshua told the court that the suspect committed the offence on January 17 at about 12.30 pm at Idiroko Village Via Ifon in the State.

Joshua stated that the suspect unlawfully killed Ibrahim Yinusa by stabbing him on his chest.

He submitted that the offence committed is contrary to Section 316 and punishable under Section 319(1) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Volume 11. Laws of Osun State 2002.

The plea of the suspect who had no legal representation was not taken.

In his ruling, Magistrate O. A Ayilara ordered that the suspect be remanded in Ilesha prison custody and adjourned the case to be mentioned at Ifon- Osun Magistrate court on January 26.

Meanwhile, during an interview with Osun Defender, the suspect said himself and the victim (Ibrahim Yinusa) were friends and that they were working on the same farm when a misunderstanding arose between them which led to a fight that eventually resulted to his death.

While Weeping, he regretted his action and said that he didn’t know his friend would later die.
