Court Remands 3 Persons Over Alleged Armed Robbery

An Osogbo Magistrate Court in Osun State has remanded three accused persons in Ilesha Prison custody over alleged armed robbery.

The accused persons are Ayodele Jonathan, 26, Adelowo Tosin Adegboyega, 27, and Olalere Tunde, 17.

The prosecutor, Inspector Fagboyinbo Abiodun had told the court that the defendants committed the offence on January 20 at about 11pm at Igbona area, Osogbo.

He further disclosed that the accused persons conspired to rob one Kamarudeen Toheeb of his Techno mobile phone valued N28,000 and the sum of N5000 totalling N33,000.

He said the defendants armed themselves with cutlasses and other dangerous weapons and also said the offence contravened sections 6(b) and punishable under section 1(i) and section 1(2)(a)(b) of the robbery and firearms (special provisions) act cap RII vol. 14, laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

According to the charge sheets, the defendants are facing a two-count charge of robbery and possession of dangerous weapons.

The pleas of the defendants were not taken by the court due to the magnitude of the offence committed.

The magistrate Mrs. Fatima Sodamade ordered the accused to be remanded in custody and the case was adjourned to 5th of March 2018 for mention.
