Council Bosses Make Case For Fallen Heroes’ Widows

The Executive Secretaries, Ilesa East Local Government, Mrs Olusola Adeoye and her counterpart from Odo-Otin Local Government Council, Honourable Oduoye Samson both in Osun State have canvassed special attention for the widows and the dependants of the fallen members of the Nigeria Armed Forces.

According to a statement by the Information Officer of Ilesa East, Mr. Kazeem Opatunji, Adeoye spoke while addressing the gathering at the 2017 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, an annual events organized to honor members of Nigerian Armed Forces who fought in the first and second world wars and those served and are serving in various peace supports operations worldwide as well as those who fought Nigerian civil war.

Appreciating the selfless efforts and services of all military, paramilitary and all that laid their lives for peace and unity in Nigeria, Adeoye said, “Our thought and prayers are with our injured and fallen soldiers, families, friends and dependants left behind”.

According to her, to show appreciation for the sacrifices made by the fallen heroes, governments and private organization, as well as individuals must strive to ensure that the widow and family of the dead and surviving fighters for the Nigeria unity are assisted to live meaningful lives.

“Armed Forces Remembrance Day is a day to celebrate both dead and living heroes including all those who suffered various deprivations as a result of wars.

“Our thought and prayers are with our injured and fallen soldiers, families, friends and dependants left behind”.

Other activities marking the events include religious service in mosque and churches, laying of wreaths, Remembrance Day parade and donations.

Also, Oduoye, according to a statement by the Information Officer of Odo-Otin Local Government Council, Rafiu Kazeem prayed for the widows, children and dependents of the Nigerian noble gallant soldiers who lost their lives in the course of defence of the country.

In his speech during the conclusion of a week activities that marked the Armed Forces Remembrance day Celebration in the council, he said there is need to do more for the families of the fallen heroes who have made the supreme sacrifice.
