COMMUNITY NEWS: Irepodun South LCDA Distributes Empowerment Materials, Grants

Management of Irepodun South Local Council Development Area, Erin-Osun under the chairmanship of Ogbeni Adekunle Oloyede has distributed empowerment materials and grants to artisans in the council area.

The Deputy Speaker, Osun House of Assembly, Hon. Akintunde Adegboye flagged off the distribution of the materials on behalf of the council’s management, just as he laid the foundation for the construction of Phase II of the council secretariat complex.

Speaking at the ceremony, the council chairman said, success and credibility are not bestowed but are earned through vision, hard work and resourcefulness, in all of which he said his administration stands tall.

Oloyede said this does not come automatically but through untiring effort, strong determination and sacrifice of his team and the management of the council.

He further added that within the few years of the APC-led administration in the Council Area, Erin Osun community and other localities have witnessed tremendous growth in terms of capital development and social service delivery, which according to him include physical infrastructure and empowerment of people.

Among items distributed during the programme are: a Toyota Camry Car, 13 Bajaj Motorcycles, Bed Sheets for community health centres and five Thermocool Deep Freezers. Grants were also given to 50 indigent women across the five wards of the LCDA. 

Oloyede reiterated the commitment of his administration to banish hunger and poverty among his people.  

The beneficiaries of the empowerment programme expressed their gratitude to the council’s management, while appreciating the Governor of the state for extending the dividends of democracy to the people living at the grassroots.

Speaking on behalf of other beneficiaries, Hon. AdeyiAkeem appreciated Irepodun South parliamentarians, confirming that the motorcycles bought for the people will help boost economic activities in the council area. 

Among the dignitaries at the event were the immediate past commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barr. Kolapo Alimi; the lawmaker representing Irepodun/Orolu State Constituency, Hon. Kamil Oyedele and other APC party leaders.
