COMMUNITY: Ife North LG Inaugurates Principal Political Office Holders

Tuesday, 13th February, 2018 will remain an historic day, as members of the parliament in Ife North Local Government, were inaugurated with fanfare at the headquarters of the council, Ipetumodu.

The immediate past Executive Secretary of the council, Taiwo Hassan Orosanya, emerged as the executive chairman of the local government, sequel to his nomination by a member of the parliament, Olayiwola Ibraheem and seconded by Ayoola Adeyeba while other members supported his nomination.

According to a statement by the Information Officer of the council, Olonade Tunde, Adeyeba emerged as the Vice Chairman, while Olayiwola was nominated and emerged as the leader of the parliament. Bakare Nafiu Kolawole emerged as the Deputy Leader.

The Clerk of the house, Mrs. Odejide administered the oath of office on the principal officers and other members of the parliament in the presence of the Council Manager, Mrs. Adeyeye, other dignitaries including, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr Bisi Odewumi, Honourable Ipoola Binuyo and a host of other leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In his acceptance speech, Orosanya thanked the community, political leaders and members in the council for their supports towards his emergence as the council boss.

Reeling out his achievements as the head of the council’s caretaker management team prior to his election, he mentioned the provision of seven 500KVA transformers for various communities, sinking of four motorised boreholes, organising skills acquisition programme for the physically challenged people, opening up of Omoluabi Residential Housing Scheme among others.

He assured that if he could record such tremendous feats as the head of caretaker management team, more should be expected with the help of God, support of his colleagues in the parliament, as well as the people of the council.

He said with the kind of innovations that would be brought on board, all the revenue generating potentials of the council would be harnessed to increase the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) that would be used for the development of the council.

Orosanya then solicited the support of everyone, more importantly the taxable adults to always pay their taxes as and when due.
