Catholic Church Commends Oyetola On Peaceful Religious Coexistence In Osun

The Catholic Diocese of Osogbo has commended Governor Gboyega Oyetola of the State of Osun for his creation of atmosphere of dialogue with his people, describing him as a democrat.

The Bishop of the Diocese, Most Rev. John Oyejola stated this on Wednesday while on a visit to the Governor in his office in Osogbo, the state capital.

Bishop Oyejola flanked by the Vicar General, Catholic Diocese of Osogbo, Very Rev. Fr. Thaddeus Ajayi, Secretary to the Bishop, Rev. Fr. Michael Odusanwo, Diocesan Education Secretary, Rev. Fr. Felix Olaniyan, Coordinator, Justice Development and Peace Makers Centre (JDPMC) of the Diocese, Rev. Fr. Peter Akinkunmi, Principal, Our Lady of St. Francis Catholic College (OSCCO), Osogbo, Rev. Fr. Peter Akinsanya and a former member of the State of Osun House of Assembly and presently the Chairman, Osun Health Insurance Scheme (OIHS), Hon. Adeoye Adelakun and Mrs. Oluremi Bamigbala-Ajao, maintained that the open and transparent leadership of Governor Gboyega Oyetola has confirmed the fundamental veracity that he is indeed a perfect example of who a democrat should be.

The Bishop who congratulated the Governor on his deserving victory at the September 2018 governorship election and the recent revalidation of same by the Supreme Court, assured him the Catholic Diocese’s readiness to support his administration through daily prayers.

Bishop Oyejola extolled Governor Gboyega Oyetola’s great wealth of experience, profound personal virtue and unprecedented brilliance, all of which he maintained the state will benefit from in no small measure, enjoining him not to rest on its oars at ensuring that he justifies the confidence reposed in him by the good people of Osun.

The Priest who commended successful administrations on their phenomenal achievements most especially in the area of security, enjoining the present administration to keep the fire burning by sustaining the present feat of the state as one of the (if not the) safest in the country.

In his remarks at the meeting, Governor Gboyega Oyetola appreciated the Catholic Diocese of Osogbo for the visit and concern for the success of his administration.

Governor Oyetola told his visitors that his administration has been able to ensure that the little security hitches uncovered disappeared completely, maintaining that the Almighty God resides in the State of Osun.

The Governor who equally told the clergy men that his administration is very committed to religious tolerance, citing a former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon’s recent visit to Osun where he couldn’t hide his happiness as despite the Eid-el -Kabir Celebration, himself and his darling wife were still able to join him in all his courtesy calls and other activities of his Nigeria Prays Movement.

Governor Gboyega Oyetola who stressed that his administration has prioritized the welfare of workers in the area of salaries, promotions and training, added that the development of the state will not be affected in any little way as a result of salary payment.

The Governor told the religious leaders that the State Government of Osun through Osun Micro Credit Agency has released not less than N4.6million into the economy of the state.

Present at the meeting were the Deputy Governor, Mr. Benedict Alabi, the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Wole Oyebamiji, Deputy Chief of Staff, Prince Abdullah Adeyanju Binuyo and the State Head of Service, Dr. Olowogboyega Oyebade.
