The Caretaker Committee Chairman, Irewole Local Government Council Area of Osun State, Prince Soji Ajayi, has commended the report and resolve of the National Judicial Council (NJC) on the petition filed against the Court of Appeal President, Justice Isa Salami, by the ousted governors of Ekiti and Osun states, Mr. Segun Oni and Mr. Olagunsoye Oyinlola together with the Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
According to Ajayi, the report and conclusion of the NJC was based on truth, maintaining that the truth was just coming to reality and inevitable in the country.
Ajayi however, called on the NJC to make its findings and recommendations on the call logs saga between Mr. Kunle Kalejaiye, lawyer to the sacked Governor Oyinlola, and Justice Thomas Naron, the chairman of the election petitions tribunal that first tried the petition filed by Governor Rauf Aregbesola over the 2007 gubernatorial election in Osun State.
He stated that the time has come for Nigerians to know the truth about the illicit conversations, which was supported with call logs between Kalejaiye and Naron, since the NJC could determine the Oni, Osun PDP’s allegations against Justice Salami within few months.
The chairman stated this on Friday in a telephone interview with OSUN DEFENDER.
Ajayi said: “The truth is just coming into reality in Nigeria and the efforts of Oni, Oyinlola and the PDP to smear the integrity of Justice Salami, Aregbesola and Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State, has come to futility.
“The truth has prevailed. They (Oni, Oyinlola and PDP) claimed that we influenced the judgment of the appellate court to secure victory for Aregbesola and Fayemi and the NJC has now declared the call logs they supplied as not being authentic.
“If NJC wants to be affirmative totally, it should also tell us the outcome of the call log saga between Kalejaiye and Justice Naron during the first election petitions tribunal on the 2007 gubernatorial election in Osun State.
“We want to know the outcome and conclusions of the NJC on Kalejaiye and Naron’s call logs saga. If Nigeria can get to this stage of saying it as it is, Kalejaiye and Naron should not be covered”.
