Bricklayer In Court Over Garri Theft

A suspect, Kunle Adedeji, 45, was arraigned before an Osogbo Magistrate Court for allegedly stealing a ‘Congo’ of Garri and money.

The charge sheet, read in the court revealed that, the culprit stole the cash sum of N500, 000 and one Congo of Garri valued at N100 property of one Tiamiyu Matthew, an offence contrary to and punishable under section 390 (9) of the criminal code cap 34 vol. 11 laws of Osun State Nigeria 2003.

It disclosed that the suspect committed the offence at Ido-Osun town of Egbedore local government area of the state at 2:00 pm.

The suspect was also alleged of damaging the lock of an Utility Van belonging to Great World venture, thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 451 of Osun State penal code.

He (suspect) pleaded not guilty to the two count charges preferred against him

The presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M.A Awodele, granted the accused person bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties who must be tax payers and their addresses must be verified by the police.

She later adjourned the case to April 30, 2019.        

The suspect while speaking with Osun Defender said, “I did not damage any car door! Before I entered the door was not even locked, I went to my Boss car to take some Garri when I was hungry I did not take any money”.
