The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Uche Secondus believes the best gift that the Federal Government can give to Nigerians is to conduct credible elections in 2019.

Secondus said this in on Tuesday while addressing a gathering in Umuahia, the Abia State capital during a one day working where he criticised President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration and the All Progress Congress.

He also warned Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to allow the will of the people to prevail as Nigerians would resist any act of rigging in the forthcoming elections.

“I believe that the best gift and project that the APC government led by President Buhari will give to Nigeria is to conduct credible elections, having failed in all other things, and then they will go with honour.

“INEC, this is a warning to you; you must be prepared to conduct free and fair elections. Nigerians will resist rigging, you must give the people what they deserve and that is free and fair 2019 election,” the PDP chairman said.

He further blamed the government for what he described as “the rot in the system,” including incessant killings by suspected herdsmen and instability in the petroleum sector among others.

Secundus asked the government to take responsibility for its inability to lead the country in good governance, noting that the socio-economic development has taken a downturn.

“I am not pleased with what is happening in this country today, and the All Progressive Congress party and the government must be held responsible,” he said.

“We must blame the Federal Government of APC for mismanagement, misinformation and abandoning their responsibilities to protect lives and properties. Everything has collapsed, the government has collapsed, no fuel, no food for the people.”

The PDP chairman, however, said his party was on a rescue mission to save the nation, informing Nigerians that Nigeria would soon witness a political tsunami.

“This is not a time for politics, it is time for reality,” he said while cautioning the government against playing politics with people’s lives.

Secondus maintained that the PDP would reclaim power from the ruling APC in 2019 in its bid to rescue the country and its people and secure the future of the younger generation.

He said their focus is on the Nigerian youths whom he said must be prepared to take their destiny in their hands.
