The Chairman, Atakunmosa West Local Government, Honourable Francis Famurewa has assured that his administration would work with the state government and relevant agencies to revamp agriculture sector and make it a profitable venture for farmers.

He gave the assurance during his swearing-in and inauguration of the parliaments in the council area.

In his acceptance speech, the council boss said he would come up with strategies to reposition the youth by ensuring capacity building and support for self-employment.

He also said that water provision and sanitation would be prioritised by this administration as an integrated ingredient for preventive healthcare.

He said, “The watchword of our administration is evolution, which means development, growth, progress and advancement. I will be totally committed to developing in education, healthcare delivery, sanitation, infrastructure, agriculture and youth engagement.

“Our staff members constitute the engine room of this local government, hence staff welfare will be at the centre of this administration to ensure excellent service delivery. We would take proactive steps in building and sustaining harmonious relationship with our staff members as well as engage in activities that would boost staff morale.

“While accepting the leadership mantle of this local government, I am fully aware of the challenges that lie ahead. This administration will align its policies with those of the state government while considering the peculiarities of our local government with a view to finding solutions to our challenges”, Famurewa stressed.

Commending the administration of Governor Rauf Aregbesola at the state level for entrenching parliamentary system at the local governments, he was optimistic that the system though new in Nigeria, would provide a solid platform for the aggregation and articulation of various interests of the people.

“It is with deep sense of humility and responsibility that I stand before this great parliament to celebrate democracy with my people being the first democratically elected local government in eleven years. I am humbled and highly honoured by your trust and abiding faith in me.

“I pledge that the confidence you have reposed in me as the Chairman of this local government would forever be held sacrosanct by me and shall never be betrayed or taken for granted”, Famurewa assured.
