The immediate past Governor of the State of Osun and newly inaugurated Minister of interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has been described as a great mobiliser of human and material resources and bridge builder both in its literal and metaphorical sense.

The Senator representing Osun Central Senatorial District Dr Ajibola Basiru gave the accolades in his congratulatory message to Ogbeni Aregbesola.

Senator Basiru, in the statement, recalled how Rauf Aregbesola, an engineer, mobilised people in Osun into the fold of the progressives at a time some thought it was over for the progressives in the State.

“With the Oranmiyan slogan, Aregbesola took Osun by storm and shook the house of the opposition to its very foundation. His electoral victory stuck in the throat of the opposition until the courts forced them to vomit it and Aregbesola became the Governor.”

According to the Chairman, Senate Committee on the Diaspora NGOs and Civil Societies, Aregbesola, as Commissioner for works in Lagos, pooled resources and gave the State the best in terms of road infrastructure.

“Rauf Aregbesola brought the Midas touch to Osun. He built both physical and human bridges. His works in our State remain a reference point and model, particularly in road and school infrastructure, for other States and beyond the shores of Nigeria,” Senator Basiru added.

Dr Ajibola Basiru stated that emergence of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola as a Minister of the Federal Republic, did not come as a surprise having served meritoriously and with enduring legacies as Commissioner and Governor in Lagos and Osun States.

Congratulating someone he refers to as his boss, role model, mentor and benefactor, Senator Basiru prayed Allah to grant the new Minister of Interior the prowess and tact to serve his fatherland.

He called on the people of Osun to see Aregbesola as their own and his success in the new assignment as success for all.
