Apprehension In Ido-Osun As Thugs Engage In Brutal Attacks

Residents of Ido-Osun in Egbedore Local Government of the State of Osun are living in palpable fear, following bloody clashes which broke out among some hoodlums in the community.

Investigations by OSUN DEFENDER revealed that the residents of the community were being threatened by some thugs from Osogbo, on account that one of their members was reportedly killed in clashes on Saturday.

It was gathered that the clashes occurred between two gangs during and after the celebration of the annual Osun Osogbo festival, which was held last Saturday in Ido-Osun.

No fewer than five persons were reportedly injured in the attacks.

The medium learnt that one of the gangs, which felt defeated in the clashes called a notorious group of thugs from Isale-Osun area of Osogbo for reinforcement.

According to sources in the community, a reprisal attack was launched on the other gang members on Saturday evening, leaving one person dead and two others injured.

The supporting thugs reportedly stormed Ido-Osun on about 60 motorcycles, each conveying three persons.

OSUN DEFENDER was reliably informed that the corpse of one of the thugs who was killed in the attack and others who were injured were taken to the Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo by the police.

It was gathered that it took the intervention of the police and the Amotekun corps to disperse the hoodlums, who were using cutlasses, axes, broken bottles and charms to attack one another at Oju-Oja in Ido-Osun.

One of the residents of the area, Comrade Rufus Oyatoro, confirmed the incident to the medium, disclosing that the community was living in palpable fear because of threats from the particular gang which member was killed.

Oyatoro stated that the gang which lost a member to the attack had threatened to launch a reprisal attack any moment, a development that has sent jitters of fear down the spines of residents of the area.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Osun Command, Mrs. Yemisi Opalola, stated that she was not aware of any thugs’ clash.
