Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo has condemned the state of roads in Abeokuta, the Ogun State Capital, saying that the roads are embarrassing to the state.

The traditional ruler, who spoke in Abeokuta at an occasion called on the state government under the leadership of Governor Gbenga Daniel to expedite action on the rehabilitation of some of the roads in the state capital, whose condition has worsened.

He said that it had become imperative for the government to address the problem as soon as possible, so as to save the state capital from the road embarrassment.

At the occasion, where Governor Daniel was represented by his Chief of Staff, Chief Yomi Majekodunmi, the Monarch said “We need to pay special attention to some of the roads right now”.

“That is why I seize every opportunity to call the attention of the government to the condition of some of the roads.

“Some of the roads that require urgent attention include Totoro road, Adatan road and Ita-Iyalode all in the state capital.

“The bridge at the Iyalode has collapsed long time ago and nobody is attending to it. I knew the Adatan road is a Federal Government road, but the state can render its help.

“I am aware that the state has a way of getting its money re-imbursed by the Federal Government whenever it (the state) rehabilitates federal roads” the monarch said.
