Aged Man Arraigned For Allegedly Damaging N17m Fence

An aged man, Raimi Adisa has been arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Osogbo, presided over by Magistrate M.A. Awodele, for allegedly damaging properties worth N17 million and threatening to life.

He was docked on a four-count charge of stealing, conduct likely to cause breach of peace, unlawful and malicious damage and threatening of life of one Alhaji Ganiyu.

According to the charge sheet, the accused person and others at large sometimes in year 2016 at Ayekale Area Osogbo, conspire together to commit felony to wit, stealing and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 516 (A) of the Criminal Code Cap 38 Vol.II laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2003.

The charge sheet also stated that the accused, conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by and forcibly entered into the land of one Alhaji Ganiyu and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 249 (B) of the Criminal Code Cap 38 vol.II laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2003.

Pa Adisa was also accused that he and others at large, unlawfully and maliciously damage a wall fence erected and being property of the same complainant value about N17,000,000 and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 451 of the Criminal Code Cap 38 vol. II laws of Osun State of Nigeria.

The charge sheet also revealed that the accused person and others at large with intent to intimidate, threatened the life of the same complainant with guns and cutlasses and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 383 and punishable under section 86 (i) of the Criminal Code Cap 38 Vol.II laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2003.

The accused person pleaded not guilty to the charges leveled against him, while his counsel, Soji Oyetayo prayed to the court to grant the accused person a bail, being an old man who needs proper care.

The presiding magistrate, granted the accused person bail in the sum of N250,000 and two sureties, while the case was adjourned till 18th of August 2017.
