Former Head of State, Abdulsalam Abubakar and Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Kukah, have had a closed-door meeting with Professor Mahmood Yakubu, Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), ahead of the rerun election in Osun State scheduled for Thursday.

The meeting is holding behind closed doors at Enugu Hall, Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja.

Details of the meeting are still sketchy as at the time of this report.

In recent years, Abdulsalam has earned a reputation for stepping in when results of elections tend to portend negative consequences for peace and stability in the country. In 2015, the Peace Committee he headed prevailed on former President Goodluck Jonathan to concede defeat in the presidential election before the official announcement of the result by INEC.
