16 People Die In Rivers Cult Clash

The people of Adoni, Port Harcourt, have been thrown into confusion in the ensuing supremacy battle between two cult groups.

Report has it that Sixteen persons were feared killed in a fight at Andoni and Port Harcourt City Local Government Areas (LGA), Rivers State on Wednesday and Thursday respectively.

In Diobu axis of Port Harcourt City, it was a supremacy fight between suspected Iceland and Degbam cult groups which led to the death of four persons, including a popular leader of one of the groups

While in Andoni, the ugly event was an all night supremacy battle among members of the same Iceland group as a result of an arguement which broke out from a plan to challenge and unseat a rival MEND fellows whom they consider a threat for getting more rooted and having control of the area than them.

News has it that the Adoni clash claimed over 10 persons with several houses got burnt down in communities like Ajakajak, Samantha, Ibotirem and Dema.

The two cult clash events were confirmed and reported to journalists by Mr Nnamdi Omoni, the Police Public Relation Officer, Rivers State Command, as he also annouced the arrest of one person in connection with the incident and the deposition of corpses in the mortuary.

The PPRO also assured the affected communities of the force capability to do the needful and make sure there’s pearmanent peace.
